Memento Mori Earrings

In darkness, there is beauty. Throughout art history, the memento mori (reminder of death) has been hidden in paintings, usually in the form of a skull. In the Victorian era, these reminders were worn on the body as mourning jewelry, an ever-present symbol that time is fleeting and nothing is promised. Our Memento Mori Earrings are an homage to this macabre practice. A spectral skull is carved into white sapphire and strung among red garnets, the stone of devotion, and black pearls, symbolizing the mysteries of the inner world. The Memento Mori Earrings are earrings in 14k yellow gold vermeil or 925 sterling silver, strung with a carved white sapphire skull, red garnets and black pearls.
